The Oliver McGowan Mandatory Training is a standardised package that is delivered by trained and approved trainers.

The Oliver McGowan Mandatory Training on Learning Disability and Autism is the government’s preferred and recommended training for the health and social care sector after the Health and Care Act 2022 introduced a requirement that regulated service providers must ensure their staff receive learning disability and autism training appropriate to their role. Tier 1 - Live Webinar Training Session

1 hour online interactive session co-delivered by a person with a learning disability and an autistic person along with a facilitator.

Suitable For:

Tier 1 training is for health and social care workers who have limited or no patient or service user contact within their role and require a general awareness of the support autistic people or people with a learning disability may need.

Registration is required to access the online session via Microsoft Teams.

As part of the session, we kindly ask each attendee to submit two questions for the trainers ahead of the course. These help tailor the session to your learning needs.

Please Note :

  • Each trainee MUST complete Part One of the Oliver McGowan Mandatory Training on Learning Disabilities an Autism E-Learning for Health module prior to attending either Tier 1 or Tier 2 Part 2. · Part 1 E Learning is free and can be accessed via this link : Part 1 - E Learning OMMT
  • The training content may trigger difficult and upsetting feelings. It contains potentially challenging material that mentions death, trauma, mental and physical illness, system failures and inequalities faced by autistic people and people with a learning disability.
  • This course requires a minimum of 6 candidates to attend; if this is not met by the day before the course it may not go ahead and you will need to reschedule.
